I haven't blogged in a while so I thought I'd just put up some images from today spent walking around West Kirby. I love having the time to slow down and appreciate what's available to shoot with the sunny weather for a change. There wasn't anything particularly eye-catching or ground breaking, just some fun shooting away .Just some dead pan compositions, symmetry, shapes and shadows from the sunlight and often overlooked inanimate objects. People probably think capturing this sort of subject matter is overkill with a sony a7RV with 50mm and 90mm prime G lenses. But it's just some simple shooting with no pressure as a way of switching off from a busy week.

I love these old railings sloping into the marina. I always start with these and come back once the sun is lower to get those nice ripples on the water

There is something about this type of architecture that I love, it just looks so British

Can’t go wrong with a dead pan symmetrical subject with some back lighting.

I love how this isolated subject suggests that it is miles out at sea. It was nice to see the blue sky reflecting into the water for a change I’d almost forgotten what it had looked like with all this grey wet weather.

70’s architecture, gotta love it or hate it. Possibly inspired by lego?

Wish I still had my lee filters big stopper to get the water looking like ice. I felt I had to male this one black and white with all the angular lines and shadows to achieve. graphic aesthetic.

I think this would have been the shot of the day if I was brave enough to shoot head-on with a tighter crop. This would have made a lovely portrait. Maybe next time!

Who doesn’t love angular shapes and symmetry. I think the contrast between the blue sky and orange shutters makes this image.
